It’s All Gonna Be Okay

January 19, 2017

“Fear not,” said the angel to the shepherds in the field. “Be strong and courageous,” said the Lord to David. “Peace I leave with you,” said Jesus to His disciples. God calls us to a calmness, a peace, and yet all too often, we choose chaos and fear. I’ve seen it far too much in America over the past few months. When the presidential election was looming back in November, I felt a complete peace. When Donald Trump was elected, that peace stayed. And as he is inaugurated and our nation begins to change, I still feel a peace. Why? Because I know it’s all gonna be okay.

It's All Gonna Be Okay

When I was in college, I had a good friend who was a worship leader. One of his favorite songs was Embrace by Jake Hamilton, and it soon became one of my favorites, as well. The whole song is just powerful and beautiful, speaking of God’s love for us and heart towards us, but the best part is the bridge, where he sings, “It’s all gonna be okay,” over and over and over again. In the darkest times of my life, this was my anthem. It’s all gonna be okay. It’s all gonna be okay. It’s all gonna be okay, because my God, my Father, loves me.

God Is Still On His Throne

When I was in high school, my pastor’s wife told us, “No matter what happened, God didn’t fall off His throne.” In college, a friend shared a saying he had heard, “God is still good, He’s still on the throne, and prayer still changes things.” AMEN, AMEN, AMEN!

So many of you are fearful for what will happen during the next four years. Others have lost a loved one. Still others are going through a scary time with a child or an unstable living situation. But let me assure you; God did not just fall off His throne one day. He’s still in control. I know you can’t see what He’s doing. You don’t need to see; you need to trust that He knows what He’s doing, and it’ll all be okay. After all, “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care...So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” (Matthew 10:29-31)

God Loves Us

Friends, I cannot proclaim this to you enough: GOD LOVES YOU! He loves you so incredibly unbelievably much! Think of a dad holding his newborn baby; you can see the awe in his eyes and his love for his child is practically tangible. That is exactly how God feels about you. He would move heaven and earth for you. In many ways, He already has. He sent His Son to die for you. And let me tell you, if God is willing to send His Son to DIE for you, that’s some pretty special love. I don’t know about you, but when I start to grasp how much God actually loves me, my fears fade away faster than they could ever come. I am filled with complete peace, and I know it will be okay.

This is my oldest brother holding his firstborn minutes after she was born; I can just see his love for her. That is how God looks at us.

God Is Faithful

“Your faithfulness continues through all generations; You established the earth, and it endures.” (Psalm 119:90) That verse says it all. God was faithful before, and He’ll be faithful again, because His faithfulness endures forever. The Bible makes us many promises of God’s peace and love, and God will be faithful to those promises. It is His very character. No matter who the president is, no matter what happens in your life, no matter if your city literally goes up in flames, God will be faithful to fill your heart with peace. Just let Him in and trust Him.

Let this sink in. God is still on His throne. He is still in control. He still loves us, He is so for us, and He is faithful to our hearts beyond a shadow of a doubt. Wherever you are searching for peace, and for whatever reason, He is there. And He’s telling you, “I love you, and it’s all gonna be okay.” I’ve included a video of Embrace at the end of this post so that your heart can hear these truths and soak them in. Lean into His peace, my friends. He loves you.

Now it’s your turn. What truths has God spoken to you in your difficult times? How do you know it’s all gonna be okay?

WE feel happy and at peace with our newly elected president. Our prayers will be for him and all his cabinet picks. Our prayers will be with all those people who feel that causing problems and spreading hate toward our new president.

Thanks for sharing that, Candy! The best we can do for ANYONE is to pray, so that is a beautiful attitude! 🙂

It is SO good to remind ourselves of this and tuck it away before trouble comes. That we can reassure ourselves with it and not be surprised when life is tough. Easier said than done for sure but what I am trying to do!

I agree, Sarah! We can live in God’s peace in the good and bad times!

Love this Abbey! Thanks for these biblical reminders. I think it’s really easy for us to look at our circumstances and begin trusting in those instead of our Heavenly Father.

if you haven’t read None Like Him by Jen Wilkin you totally should. It’s causing me to seriously marvel in how different God is from us but how very incredible and limited we are in our scope of things. So cool to see.

    Love this ❤

This is such a great reminder! I am always comforted by the fact that even though circumstances will change and struggles will come and go, God is ALWAYS faithful and His truth is always the same.
