When you’re expecting a baby, the nursery quickly becomes one of your favorite places in your home. It’s a place to prepare for your little one, to decorate, to dream. Will she want it painted pink someday? Will he fill the bookshelves with cars and robots? It’s such a special place, the room where your little one will grow. I want our nursery to be special for our baby girl, but I’d also like to be able to afford our mortgage. 😉 Let’s look together at some tips for decorating a nursery: on a budget! (And get a peek at OUR nursery!)
I’ll be the first to admit that I LOVE vacations, but I’m also the biggest stickler about not breaking the bank! So how do I reconcile the two? We vacation on a budget! Pregnancy is an absolute blessing! There is a precious little life growing inside your body and you get the joy of feeling kicks and flips and hiccups. It is the most joyous of occasions. But you know what’s not so joyous? Spending $45 on a pair of maternity jeans that you’ll wear for approximately 4 months. But with that ever-growing belly, do you have another option? YES! Maternity clothes can be expensive, but not if you know the right places to shop! Keep reading to find out my top 9 places to buy cheap maternity clothes!
At the beginning of 2016, I created an insane challenge for myself: go 365 days without buying clothes (although technically, it was 366 since it was a leap year. Bonus points.). As I’ve said before, I’m not a new year’s resolutions kind of person, and I don’t generally create challenges like this for myself. I like myself the way I am, and unless God makes it clear as day, I don’t see a need for big changes in my life. So why did I go 365 days without buying clothes? How did I do it? What did I learn? Keep reading for those answers!

I love Christmas! There are not enough songs and emojis and happy words to describe the joy in my heart during this sweet season. Christ has come to redeem us, and my heart is so full. Though I love literally everything about Christmastime, one of my favorite things is decorating! Lights on the house, ornaments on the tree, nativities everywhere you turn; it is just simply magical. But many of you are like me, which means you’re on a budget and can’t go spend hundreds of dollars at Hobby Lobby to deck out your house for the holiday season. But as the angel said to Joseph, “Fear not!” 😉 It is absolutely possible to transform your home for the holidays, even when you’re on a budget!
Winter is hard on our budget, to say the least. Whether you depend on electricity or gas for your heat, chances are your heating bills are through the roof. If you’re looking to lower your heating bill without freezing to death, try these 7 ways to stay warm without raising your heating bill. 🙂
My husband is self-employed and I am a homemaker. When we got married, we set a budget, and we have to stick to it every month. Not only is it vital for our survival, but it’s important to us. We believe serving God with our whole hearts includes being wise with where our money goes. That includes making smart purchases, but it also includes NOT making purchases sometimes. Are you trying to stay on budget but still struggling? Stop buying these things! They help us to stay on budget! 🙂

As of August 31st, Caleb and I are officially homeowners! Yay! We love our new house! Since we live on a budget, I’m all about re-purposing old things to be used in a new way or just sprucing them up to give the room a fresh feel. That’s what we did with our nursery, and it turned out just perfect! But long before we had a nursery (or even a marriage), Caleb and I took on one of my favorite DIY projects of all time. We took a piece that had little life left in it, spruced it up, and gave it a whole new purpose! It only took us one Saturday afternoon and we were able to transform an old dresser into a fabulous entertainment center!
